Heath Gunns – Outreach Manager

Heath has served HAVA as full time volunteer since 2008 during it’s very humble beginnings.  He now coordinates outreach, logistics, and event planning all over the U.S. and in some cases around the world.  His efforts include tirelessly protecting the HAVA mission as well as pre-planning and participation in HAVA shooting and hunting activities.  Prior to serving HAVA, Heath served as Marine, Law Enforcement professional and firearms instructor, among many other skills relevant to his role with HAVA.

Eva Carwile – Military Liaison

Eva played an integral role in HAVA’s founding by helping recruit wounded veterans for the first Family Day range event in 2008.  She has continuously volunteered for HAVA and is key in building and maintaining relationships with active duty and reserve units, and acting as an ambassador for the organization.  Eva served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years and currently works for the military assisting service members with understanding and accessing benefits

Nick Orchowski – Event Coordinator

Nick came to HAVA as a participant, and has now made the commitment to serve HAVA as a volunteer at hunting and shooting events. Nick is a disabled combat veteran that was injured in Iraq serving as a U.S. Army Military Police Officer. After Nicks injury and recovery period, he set out to serve others who were wounded physically or mentally with a different way of therapeutic recovery in the outdoors . He is extremely passionate about the outdoors and shooting sports and he brings a unique knowledge about service and recovery to each event.

 

Rick Cicero – Manager/Lead Instructor, LTS

After attending a HAVA event, Rick became a friend of HAVA and began working with those most severely wounded at shooting and training events.  This ultimately became HAVA’s Learn to Shoot Again program where he serves as the volunteer Manager and Lead Instructor.  Rick and the LTSA Team are developing training techniques, curriculums and programs that serve those with the most challenging physical injuries.  Rick is a former Army Special Operation Force Paratrooper, retired police officer, firearms instructor and canine handler.  He was injured as a military contractor, in Afghanistan when he encountered an IED which took his right arm and leg.
